PE and Sport Premium Funding

Important Update for 2026-2027

The Department for Education has announced that the Primary PE and Sport Premium will end at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 academic year. To support schools as they move to a new funding system, primary schools will receive a one-term transitional allocation during the 2026–2027 academic year. The Department for Education has advised that further details, including individual school allocations and conditions of grant, will be published during Autumn 2026. Reporting requirements will also be simplified as part of the transition.

What Has the PE and Sport Premium Achieved?

The PE and Sport Premium has enabled schools across the country to improve the quality of physical education, increase participation in sport and physical activity, and provide children with opportunities to develop healthy, active lifestyles.

At Abbots Farm Infant School, this funding has supported our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality PE, a wide range of sporting experiences, and opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

Our Commitment to Physical Education

Although the PE and Sport Premium is coming to an end, our commitment to providing excellent physical education and sporting opportunities remains unchanged.

We will continue to:

• Deliver high-quality PE lessons for all pupils.
• Promote healthy and active lifestyles.
• Provide a wide range of sporting and enrichment opportunities.
• Develop pupils' physical confidence, wellbeing and personal development.
• Ensure that all children, regardless of background or ability, can participate fully in physical activity and school sport.
