Ofsted Inspection 2026 – Celebrating Our Strengths

We are delighted to share the outcomes of our recent Ofsted inspection, which recognised Abbots Farm Infant School as meeting the Expected Standard in all areas and confirmed that safeguarding standards are fully met. The report highlights the many strengths of our school and reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff, governors and families.

A Happy, Safe and Inclusive School

Inspectors found that pupils are proud to attend Abbots Farm Infant School and described a strong sense of community where everyone is valued. Children arrive each day enthusiastic about learning and benefit from positive relationships with adults who know them well. Pupils feel safe, included and supported to succeed.

Strong Teaching and Secure Progress

The report recognises our clear focus on developing children's knowledge and skills in reading, writing and mathematics from the very start of their education. Children settle quickly, build secure foundations for learning and make strong progress from their starting points. Inspectors noted that:

  • Most pupils become confident and fluent readers by the end of Year 2.
  • Pupils develop secure mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Children build knowledge successfully across the wider curriculum.
  • Disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND make secure progress alongside their peers.

Excellent Early Years Provision

Our Early Years and Pre-School provision received particularly positive feedback. Inspectors praised the warm, purposeful interactions between staff and children, the strong emphasis on communication and language development, and the highly effective partnerships with parents. Children develop confidence, curiosity, independence and positive relationships from the earliest stages of their education.

Positive Behaviour and Good Attendance

The report highlights pupils as respectful, responsible and self-confident learners. Classrooms are calm, pupils follow routines well and behaviour reflects the school's values. Inspectors found that bullying is rare and any concerns are addressed quickly and effectively. The school's nurturing approach and strong partnership with families have also helped attendance improve over time.

A Strong Culture of Inclusion

Inspectors recognised the school's strong commitment to inclusion. Pupils' needs are identified quickly and accurately, with effective support provided for children with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable learners. Staff work closely with families and external professionals to ensure every child can access the full curriculum and thrive.

Leadership with Vision and Purpose

Ofsted praised leaders and governors for having a clear and ambitious vision for the school. Leaders understand the school's strengths, carefully evaluate their work and implement improvements that have a positive impact on pupils' experiences and outcomes. Staff reported feeling valued, supported and part of a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement.

Enriching Experiences Beyond the Classroom

Inspectors highlighted the wide range of opportunities available to pupils, including clubs, sporting activities, leadership roles and educational visits. From clay club and martial arts to school journalism and e-safety leadership, pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, responsibility and leadership skills that prepare them well for the future

What Parents Say

The report notes that parents and carers speak very highly of the school. Inspectors found that families value the caring and supportive relationships staff build with children and appreciate the school's commitment to ensuring that every child is listened to and supported.

Looking Forward

While celebrating the many strengths of the school, leaders remain committed to continuous improvement. We will continue our work to strengthen handwriting, spelling and challenge within lessons so that every child achieves their very best.

We are extremely proud that the inspection reflects our vision of providing a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment where every child can flourish. Thank you to our pupils, staff, governors and families for helping make Abbots Farm Infant School such a special place to learn and grow.
