Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for FSM in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011, and paid to local authorities by means of a specific grant based on January 2011 school census figures for pupils registered as eligible for FSM in reception to Year 11.
Local authorities are responsible for looked after children in care and will make payments to schools and academies where an eligible looked after child is on roll.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.
The government requires all schools to publish online information about how the Premium is used. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.
We are now taking bookings for parents tours. If your child is due to start Reception in September 2020 please ring our school office to make an appointment to look at our school.
